Shepherd of the Giants of Nod

Quick Reference

  • Role: Shepherd and master of the Giants of Nod

  • Followers: Giants of Nod, Achillians, and allied dark powers
  • Modern agents: Ganosh, Jubal, Tubal

A Power Behind the Giants

Master Mahan is introduced through warnings long before Xandir confronts him directly. Peaceful Giants describe him as the shepherd of the Giants of Nod, a ruler whose cruelty and manipulation distinguish his followers from other Giant communities.

Plans Across Ages

His strategy is rarely a simple frontal assault. He gathers powerful descendants, exploits forbidden knowledge, uses music and deception to influence others, and lets intermediaries such as Ganosh bargain with people whose weaknesses he already understands.

The Tree of Death

One of Master Mahan’s most dangerous long-term goals is obtaining a viable seed from Serche’s Tree of Death. The plan connects ancient Giant history to the modern conspiracy and turns Xandir’s private grief into a weapon that can affect the whole world.

Deep Canon · Major Spoilers

The Last Archangel reveals that Master Mahan is Cain, the first murderer. His ancient mark protects him through a threat of multiplied retribution against anyone who harms him. The revelation explains why his influence survives across such vast stretches of history and why his conflict with Heaven is more than another temporary uprising.
