The Kingdom Reborn in Burgenring

Chronology: Climax of The Skyward Isle · Cross-world event

Quick Reference

  • Architects: The Custodians of the Worlds
  • Goal: Remove the Canticle Kingdom from the music box and permanently relocate it
  • Destination: A damaged larger world connected with Burgenring
  • Critical tool: A magical anchor planted at the transfer site
  • Final function of the box: Eternal prison for the Many-Named One

Why the Kingdom Must Move

Gian explains that the Many-Named One has become too powerful to destroy directly and will eventually threaten the music box itself. The solution is capture—but only after every citizen and structure of the Canticle Kingdom has been removed from the vessel that will become the prison.

A World-Sized Transfer

The move is not simple teleportation. The Custodians must break down the barrier between worlds while a magical anchor is carried through and planted at the intended destination. If the anchor fails, the kingdom risks being dragged through and scattered beyond repair.

The Old Banishment Returns

Once the kingdom is restored and complete in its new world, its old banishment magic reasserts itself. The Many-Named One is pulled through a great portal and trapped inside the now-empty Müller box.

A New Constitutional Era

The transfer changes more than geography. The kingdom no longer depends on the box’s music to bring in new queens, and its life is no longer tied to the queen in the old way. Johann and Brigitte inherit a realm that has become part of a larger world and must develop a new model of succession and rule.

Five Years Later

The final coda confirms that Johann and Brigitte have ruled the transferred kingdom for the better part of five years. The realm is no longer a miniature world hidden inside an Earth artifact; it has become a permanent part of its new home.

What Changes Permanently

  • The kingdom leaves the music box
  • The box becomes a prison
  • The kingdom’s geography expands
  • Royal succession no longer depends on the old music-box mechanism
  • The realm becomes integrated into a larger world
