What Is the Canticle Kingdom?
The Canticle Kingdom is the central fantasy realm of the chronicles: a place of royal courts, villages, cursed woods, hidden passages, old knights, enchanted statues, and magic whose rules are deeply entangled with music.
Its inhabitants experience the kingdom as a complete world, yet the historical storyline gradually reveals an extraordinary fact: the realm is contained within the handcrafted Müller music box. Damage to the box can therefore become damage to the kingdom itself.
A Realm Tuned to Music
Music is not simply part of the kingdom’s culture. Bells mark time, songs carry information and emotion, magical practices answer to melody and rhythm, and the kingdom’s health can be reflected in the way its music behaves. This makes the setting feel less like a conventional medieval realm and more like a living instrument whose people inhabit the song.
