The Ayr Priestly Order
Law, Flight & the Archpriesthood
Spoiler level: Through The Frozen Globe
Quick Reference
A Priesthood Built Around Rules
The Ayr order governs much of life on the Frozen Mountain through an extensive body of written rules. The regulations are detailed enough to be numbered by paragraph, and even outsiders living among the Ayr are expected to learn and obey them.
Sacred Stewardship
The priests do more than lead ceremonies. They claim responsibility for sacred living creatures that visit the mountain during snow, enforce protections around those creatures, and connect environmental stewardship with religious obligation.
The Archpriesthood
The Archpriest stands at the top of the hierarchy. As Strahl’s health declines, Silber’s position as next in line increases his power and ambition. This succession tension turns the priesthood into one of the central political institutions of the mountain.
Flight and Ritual Identity
Priestly clothing incorporates great feathered wings and elaborate decoration. Because Ayr already possess gravity-related gifts, the ceremonial wings blur the line between ritual symbolism, practical flight, and visible rank.
