FACTIONS OF THE REMAINDER
The Reclaimers
Rescue, reconnaissance, recruitment, and recovery turn resistance into something more than survival.
Major Book Three spoilers: this entry describes the resistance that develops during the decades of Azil’s absence.
From the Remainder to the Reclaimers
After the old Clan system collapses, the Remainder survives through mobility, hidden routes, communication networks, reconnaissance, and specialized missions. Sarhah Harkness begins in a small squad watching the movements of Sanctuary troops and eventually becomes a leader in her own right.
A Mission of Reclamation
The Reclaimers focus on people rather than territory. They search for those who can be brought into the resistance, rescue prisoners and endangered civilians, recover those taken by the enemy, and gather the intelligence needed to make those missions possible.
- Find people living beyond the Remainder’s reach.
- Rescue captives and those threatened by the Dark vessel’s followers.
- Recruit willing survivors into the resistance network.
- Recover people who have been taken, separated, or lost.
Sarhah’s Leadership
Sarhah’s experience with loss gives the Reclaimers their clearest dramatic meaning. She cannot save everyone, and the record never pretends otherwise. Her answer is to keep going out for the next person. Over time, the work grows large enough to include not only field teams but the practical community needed to support them.
Resistance Without Conquest
The Reclaimers complement the Defenders and Vigilant. Where the Defenders protect and equip the Remainder, and the Vigilant cultivate preparedness and spiritual discipline, the Reclaimers move outward. Their success is measured less by ground captured than by lives brought back.
