A Faction Built Around Watching
The Vigilant are one of the factions formed among the Remainder after the Flight. While other survivors concentrate on rescue, defense, or rebuilding, the Vigilant devote themselves to a single long-term task: watch for Azil’s return and make certain the Realm is ready when it happens.
Carnon
The faction is led by Carnon, Captain of the Vigilant. He and his followers maintain observation posts and cultivate procedures meant to distinguish a genuine returning vessel from rumor, deception, or wishful thinking.
The Signal Network
For decades, the Vigilant watch the mountains and devise visible signals that can be passed from observer to observer. When Azil finally reappears, fires and other signs draw him toward the people who have spent much of their lives preparing for that exact moment.
Faith Changed by Waiting
Their devotion is sincere, but fifty years of expectation has also shaped a culture that sometimes knows the anticipated vessel better as an idea than as a man. Azil’s return therefore creates tension as well as joy: the person who arrives cannot perfectly match the figure built up during decades of hardship.
Among the Remainder
The Vigilant operate alongside other resistance factions, including Sarhah’s Reclaimers, who recruit and rescue, and Cherbur’s Defenders, who focus on protection and new tools. Together they show how the old Clan identities fracture into mission-based communities after the Wrath.
