A City Buried Before the Clans
The Sanctuary predates the familiar political order of Scarlatti, Azura, and Dorian. Its circular layout and concentric ruins belong to an older system that the people of the Penultimate Age barely remember.
Raised by the Mage Gigas
After the Flight, the Dark vessel uses the Mage Gigas to uncover the buried city in the eastern Realm. What initially looks from afar like clouds of dust resolves into a vast circular settlement emerging from the ground.
Capital of a New Religion
The Sanctuary becomes the center of the Dark vessel’s rule. His followers build a devotion around a visible divine figure, borrowing elements of Azuran Testifying but intensifying them into competition, fanaticism, and acts meant to prove loyalty.
A World of Wonders and Control
Survivors describe remarkable conditions inside the city: abundant water and food, potent magical resources, technological or magical conveniences, and unusual longevity. Those benefits make the Sanctuary dangerous precisely because its tyranny can present itself as prosperity.
