Stronghold of the Surviving Giants

Terminology Note

The modern novel repeatedly labels the setting Realm of Nod, while characters and the prequel also use Land of Nod. This encyclopedia treats those as references to the same broader Giant territory rather than separate locations.

A Hidden World Beneath the Surface

The areas of Nod visited by Xandir and Jarom are dominated by caves, branching tunnels, underground cells, dark chambers, and routes leading toward the Magma Flow. Jarom’s first hours there are spent imprisoned in a cold, dripping cavern where even flying becomes difficult.

Master Mahan’s Stronghold

Master Mahan, Tubal, Jubal, Ganosh, and their allies use Nod as the center of their modern operation. Prisoners can be moved through its tunnel system, scouts report to its leaders, and hidden chambers support plans reaching far beyond the realm itself.

Deep Canon · Major Spoilers

After Xandir escapes, Jarom remains in Nod with Clara. He hides her in a secluded cave with a pure pool of water, creating a tiny refuge inside the enemy’s own territory. The same realm that begins as Jarom’s prison becomes the place where he chooses to protect Xandir’s daughter.
