Jubal’s Harps
Instruments of Mystic Song
- Bearer: Jubal
- Form: multiple enchanted harps of different materials and designs
- Known effects: sleep, pain, restraint, repair/restoration, influence
- Rule: mystic songs affect listeners according to the intended effect of the song
Not One Harp, Not One Power
Jubal carries a collection of harps rather than a single all-purpose instrument. He can withdraw a miniature harp that grows in his hands, a gilded silver harp with crimson strings, a gold-and-green harp wrapped in vines, a mother-of-pearl instrument, and others suited to different songs.
Songs With Specific Targets
Jubal explains that mystic music works according to intended effect. A battle-breaking song puts active combatants to sleep while leaving Jarom awake because he is not fighting. Other melodies produce physical agony strong enough to stop powerful enemies.
Music That Repairs
The gold-and-green harp demonstrates that Jubal’s art is not limited to attacking minds or bodies. After a violent fight tears apart a ship’s deck, his soft tune draws holes closed, restores broken beams, and removes the marks of battle until the deck looks untouched.
Deep Canon · Music as Temptation
Jubal also claims music can reach beyond ordinary physical effects and even offers to call Sempre’s soul back after her death. Whether every promise reflects a distinct harp, a distinct song, or Jubal’s broader musical power is not always specified, so this archive avoids assigning an unverified fixed spell list to each instrument.
