Giants

Children of Watchers and Mortals

  • Origin: children born from Watcher–mortal unions
  • Traits: rapid maturation, extraordinary size and strength, unusual durability
  • Moral alignment: not uniform
  • Major factions: Giants of Nod and peaceful Giant communities

A New Kind of Being

The first Giant children appear when Watchers cross the boundary separating observation from mortal intimacy. From infancy they are physically exceptional, and reports quickly spread that they mature faster and become stronger and more cunning than ordinary humans.

Why Heaven Becomes Alarmed

The possibility of an organized Giant army terrifies the Watcher leadership. Their power, accelerated growth, and connection to forbidden angelic knowledge make them seem capable of overwhelming early human societies.

Ancestry Is Not Destiny

The series repeatedly complicates the original fear. Some Giants become violent followers of Master Mahan, while others build peaceful communities and reject his rule. Xandir eventually insists that the factions must be judged separately.
