A Passage That Judges Before Arrival
The Chute does more than move a traveler downward. During Xandir’s descent, scenes from his past burst into view one after another, emphasizing wrongdoing, regret, and self-justification. The route turns physical descent into a confrontation with conscience.
Pinned Until the Final Moment
Xandir cannot control his body while falling. Only when he repeats a key word given to him near the bottom does movement return, allowing him to pull away from the Jaws with almost no distance to spare.
A Route Toward Hell, Not Hell Itself
The manuscript distinguishes the Chute from its destination. It is the route downward; the Jaws are the threshold below; Serche is the suspended city above. Keeping those spaces separate preserves the geography of the sequence.
