Who Can See the Celestial World?
- Default: most mortals do not perceive angels or celestial structures normally
- Choice: angels can sometimes allow themselves to be seen
- Celestial structures: places such as Jacob’s Ladder facilities can be invisible to mortal eyes
- Transferable concealment: angelic materials can reproduce the effect on mortal clothing
A World Layered Over the Mortal One
The celestial world frequently occupies the same physical spaces as ordinary human life while remaining unseen. Angels can intervene in crowded places without every bystander realizing what is happening.
Concealment Can Be Engineered
In The Last Kingdom, angelic threads are woven into Xandir’s mortal clothes so that, like an angel, he is hidden from most humans unless he chooses otherwise. His artificial wings are disguised within the same clothing.
Seeing Is a Story Rule
This visibility rule allows mortal and celestial action to overlap without requiring the whole human world to acknowledge the supernatural after every encounter.
