Xandir’s First Watcher Partner
When the Watchers receive their first Earthside regions, Xandir is paired with Absalom. Absalom appears more sympathetic than Azazel and takes the human world seriously enough that his attachment to it eventually becomes personal.
Fall, Family, and Betrayal
Absalom violates the Watchers’ restrictions through his relationship with a mortal woman and becomes father to a Giant. When the Giant crisis spirals out of control, he betrays the Giants to celestial authorities in hopes of mitigating his own punishment. That choice leaves him burdened by the knowledge that he helped condemn his own family.
The Offer
Centuries later, Absalom reappears as a rogue angel and deliberately draws Xandir into contact with the surviving Giants. His leverage is Jarom’s disappearance. The meeting leads Xandir directly to Ganosh and to a bargain built around Xandir’s oldest emotional weakness.

Age of Archangels reveals that Absalom’s later cynicism grows out of genuine remorse. He is not simply a recruiter for evil powers; he is a fallen Watcher whose attempts to protect himself, protect his family, and repair previous choices repeatedly conflict.
