The Power Behind Sir Ruprecht

Precht operates through Sir Ruprecht, feeding his resentment and giving him access to Netherworld power. Ruprecht’s dark cube summons spectral armies and transforms ordinary conflict into turn-based battles, but the power is never truly his. He is a vessel and agent for a larger design.

The Secret Big Bad

During the arena confrontation, Precht emerges as a shadowy being with grasping hands and assumes forms designed to unsettle his enemies. He seizes the DEM, banishes Felgarath, and uses the device while its inner workings are exposed to tear down the barrier between the Beandom and the Netherworld.

The Vessel

Even after the heroes damage the DEM, Precht’s plan continues. The breach releases undead hosts across the Beandom. A surviving shard of his energy later finds Petra, restores her stony body to flesh, and enters her as a new vessel.

Chronicler’s note: Felgarath appears to be Book Six’s obvious villain, but Precht is the conspiracy’s hidden center. His greatest weapon is not raw force; it is the ability to turn another person’s longing into an opening.
