The Partner Xandir Needed
Zeus spends years serving beside Xandir as a Watcher. Where Xandir tends toward suspicion, impatience, and sarcasm, Zeus is broad-shouldered, good-humored, and stubbornly inclined to believe that even unpleasant parts of creation may have a purpose.
Lightning in the Field
Zeus has a natural affinity for storms and can call down lightning with devastating force. During the investigation into the Giants, that power makes him a formidable combatant and, at crucial moments, a rescuer. He saves Xandir from being overwhelmed by the waters surrounding a Giant settlement and helps him survive the first major clash over the fate of the Giants.
Conscience Without Naivety
Zeus does not always agree with Xandir, but he also does not reduce obedience to thoughtlessness. When their orders become morally unbearable, both angels struggle with the difference between what they have promised to do and what they believe is right.

Zeus and Xandir are bound by an Angelic Covenant to participate in the campaign against the Giants, even after both begin to question how completely the evidence has been understood. Their partnership becomes one of the earliest examples of Xandir learning that obedience, conscience, and mercy do not always line up cleanly.
