Wilhelm

The knight who would not abandon the kingdom.

Wilhelm is one of the old royal knights whose commitment survives changing queens, hidden wars, and the collapse of the order he once knew.

One of the Old Knights

Wilhelm stands beside Karsten, Siegfried, and Peter during the struggle against the man then calling himself Thantos. He is practical, loyal, and willing to challenge danger even when he suspects the knights are walking into a trap.

The Middlespace Oath

After discovering that time moves differently in Middlespace, Wilhelm supports the plan to use that realm to extend the knights’ ability to protect the kingdom. He is the first to propose an oath that none of them will rest until the recurring threat has been defeated for good.

Maria and the Resistance

Wilhelm later marries Maria and tries to build an ordinary life. When the kingdom falls under corrupt rule, however, he joins Siegfried’s resistance despite the danger to his pregnant wife. His loyalty to the kingdom and loyalty to his family repeatedly pull him in opposite directions.

That conflict becomes most painful when Wilhelm confronts a magically altered Peter and realizes that his old comrade has been forced onto the enemy’s side.
