Who Is Peter?

Peter is one of the old royal knights whose history with the Canticle Kingdom long predates Johann’s adventures. Before court politics and magical wars consumed his life, he was a hunter and trapper with the instincts of a man accustomed to surviving dangerous wilderness.

Years of loss have left him abrasive and deeply suspicious. He needles Karsten, mocks danger, and rarely lets a sincere feeling pass without covering it in sarcasm. Yet his bitterness hides a stubborn commitment to the kingdom and to the family he once tried desperately to save.

The Cost of an Old Bargain

Peter once made a bargain with evil in an attempt to keep his wife from being slaughtered. The choice complicated his reputation among the other knights and left old wounds that never fully healed. By The Skyward Isle, however, he is no longer interested in defending the wisdom of everything he once did. He wants a chance to do something useful with what remains of his life.

His return to Ewyn’s cottage finally forces him to face the grief he avoided for years. The encounter gives Peter both closure and one last gift: an enchanted Fuchsbar cloak made to protect him from powerful magic in the battle ahead.
