Who Is Ewyn?
Ewyn was a formidable hunter long before Peter knew how important she would become to him. Their first meeting was hardly romantic: Peter encountered her fighting a towering Fuchsbar she intended to turn into a rug. He killed it before realizing she had the situation largely under control.
That combination of competence, temper, and humor defines the way Peter remembers her. Their brief life together became the happiest period he ever knew, which made losing her the wound he spent years refusing to face.
The Truth Peter Never Learned
When Peter finally returns to their cottage in The Skyward Isle, Ewyn’s ghost has been waiting. She explains that wounds from an earlier attack never truly healed and that she survived long enough to ensure their child was cared for before she died.
Rather than simply offering farewell, Ewyn prepares Peter for the coming conflict. She reveals a hidden compartment containing a cloak fashioned from the old Fuchsbar pelt and enchanted to ward off all but the strongest magic.
