1940: The Box Leaves Its Makers
By 1940 the artifact has entered a wider wartime world. Its movement through Germany begins separating the physical object from the men who created it, allowing the box—and the kingdom hidden inside it—to affect strangers who know nothing about its origin.
1943: Dachau
The box becomes entangled with the horrors of Dachau, where another disappearance adds to the growing pattern. The fantasy chronology is therefore embedded directly inside real wartime settings rather than isolated from them.
1945: Liberation, London, and St. Louis
After liberation, Lieutenant Miles Rupert encounters the artifact. The trail then reaches London and eventually St. Louis, where Kate Edison’s disappearance turns a scattered mystery into an urgent family search.
Return to Idar-Oberstein
Captain Edison follows the inscription “J. und K. Müller” back to Germany. By late 1945 the object’s wartime trail has looped back to its creators, joining Earth investigators, missing travelers, Middlespace, and the Canticle Kingdom into one story.
