The Fuchsbar Cloak
Ewyn’s Final Protection
Spoiler level: Through The Skyward Isle
Quick Reference
A Hunting Trophy Turned Safeguard
The cloak begins with one of Peter and Ewyn’s oldest shared memories. When they first meet, Ewyn is battling a Fuchsbar and intends to make use of its pelt. Peter intervenes before understanding that she hardly needs rescuing. Ewyn eventually preserves the pelt and turns it into something far more useful than a rug.
Ewyn’s Enchantment
Ewyn fashions the brightly colored pelt into a cloak sized specifically for Peter and enchants it to resist magical attacks. She warns that only the strongest magic should be able to overcome its protection and tells Peter that he will need it in the battle ahead.
Protection That Outlives Its Maker
The cloak later proves its value when a deadly storm of magical shards tears through ordinary defenses. Peter’s shield is pierced, but the cloak deflects additional shards. The scene turns the artifact into more than armor: Ewyn is still protecting Peter after death through something she made with her own hands.
