Darkness in the Roads Between Worlds

A Familiar Realm Made Unrecognizable

Brigitte immediately recognizes that something is wrong when she returns to Middlespace. The familiar unending whiteness is broken by swirling dark shapes and patches that move across the air and ground.

Even Siegfried Has Never Seen It

Siegfried has traveled Middlespace more than most characters, yet he has no precedent for the contamination. His reaction establishes that this is not a normal hazard of interworld travel but a new breakdown in the system connecting worlds.

Creatures from the Darkness

Humanlike forms crawl from the black patches, their bodies changing and dripping darkness. They call on travelers to enter Darkespace and to add their names to their master’s growing collection. Ordinary physical attacks do little to stop them.

Why the Corruption Matters

Middlespace is infrastructure: it is the road system connecting worlds. Once corrupted, the Many-Named One no longer threatens only isolated kingdoms. He threatens movement, communication, escape routes, and the boundaries that normally keep one world’s danger from spilling into another.
