KEEPS OF THE PENULTIMATE DAWN

Scarlatti Keep

Crimson Citadel · Court of Sight · Site of the Grand Feast

Largest of the Three

Scarlatti Keep is described as the largest and grandest of the three great Clan Keeps. A massive central tower dominates the surrounding city, with smaller towers arranged around it inside a triangular wall. Every stone is a shade of red, and crimson braziers illuminate the battlements.

The Grand Feast of Rahim

Kaval’s unexpected invitation to the Grand Feast brings him into the Keep and into direct contact with the world of nobility. The banquet becomes a turning point for the entire cycle: spectacle, politics, forbidden Sustenance, and the hidden plans surrounding the Aspects collide in one disastrous night.

Architecture and Identity

The Keep’s triangular geometry, red-and-white floors, rose-and-flame insignia, and richly appointed halls translate Scarlatti theology into architecture. Sight, status, and display are all built into the place itself.

Later Significance

Unlike the Azuran and Dorian Keeps, which suffer catastrophic destruction, Scarlatti Keep is scorched rather than wholly erased. That difference matters later because one of the hidden Ascension shrines—and its Soul Cleaver—may still survive within its ruins.
