WARFARE OF THE DARK VESSEL
Glass Mages
Mages whose orange-glass armor and vehicles link human spellcraft to the collective minds of Mage Mites.
Living Glass
The warriors called Glass Mages use armor, vehicles, and other constructions made from the orange glass associated with Pantonallia and the Orange Keep. The material is not merely decorative or structural: it houses Mage Mites whose collective consciousness can be joined to a human operator.
Expanded Reserves
By linking with the Mites, a Glass Mage can expand magical capacity beyond an ordinary personal Reserve. The result is warfare on a much larger scale, with armor and vehicles functioning as living extensions of the mage rather than simple machines.
The Dark Vessel’s Military
Over the decades of the Dark Vessel’s rule, Glass Mages become one of his regime’s most recognizable military forces. Their assaults, patrols, and captured technologies shape the long struggle of the Remainder, Reclaimers, Vigilant, and Defenders.
Captured Technology
The resistance eventually learns to operate captured glass creations and turns the enemy’s tools against him. This adaptation becomes especially important when combined with technologies such as Essence Sappers, showing how the post-Wrath factions survive through experimentation as much as inherited magic.
The Limits of Control
Because the glass depends on living minds, its power is never wholly mechanical. Mage Mites can respond, resist, and alter their allegiance. The Glass Mages therefore embody one of the Dark Vessel’s central contradictions: a system built to magnify control depends upon creatures that still retain wills of their own.
