A Hidden Archangel Power
In The Last Kingdom, Xandir first experiences Epiphany before he even knows its name. Light erupts through his mortal body and he briefly returns to the taller, armored, winged form of his celestial identity.
Reserved for Archangels
Zeus identifies Epiphany as a power reserved for Archangels living in mortal form. It is not a general angelic transformation and cannot be used casually without consequences.
Power With a Price
The transformation can reverse otherwise overwhelming danger, but the mortal body cannot sustain it indefinitely. Daniel’s Armor later becomes important because it is rumored to stabilize and extend the power.
