Phillip’s Opposing Knight
Jezreel is the dark counterpart paired with Phillip Witz. Their history predates Rich’s active quest and helps reveal that the Paladin–Nemesis pattern extends through generations rather than beginning with Rich and Mallory.

Her magic often manifests through flame. Later books associate bishops with powers of chaos and order, and Jezreel embodies the chaotic side dramatically: heat, fire, sabotage, and sudden destabilization are all natural extensions of her role.

Bishop: Betrayal reveals that Jezreel is Mallory’s aunt. She enters the altered Maze with the other dark knights, repeatedly challenges the Paladins’ attempts at cooperation, and becomes one of the clearest examples of how family history and Nemesis identity overlap in the series.
