Arlenen

The Knight Father in the Mists

  • First known role: ancient guide who appears to Rich in dreams
  • Method: visions, family memories, counsel, and carefully limited revelations
  • Concern: the survival and unity of the knightly family
  • Deep identity: the Knight Father

The Man in the Mists

Arlenen enters Rich’s story through dreams, appearing as an ancient knight whose knowledge reaches far beyond the immediate Paladin–Nemesis conflict. He offers guidance rather than simple answers, often showing Rich images from the past and forcing him to interpret what those memories mean for his own choices.

Guide to the Family’s Future

His concern is not limited to combat. Arlenen repeatedly pushes Rich to think about family, partnership, leadership, and the generations that will come after him. To Arlenen, a knight’s quest is part of a much longer inheritance.

Deep Canon · The Knight Father

Sovereign’s Song reveals that Arlenen is the Knight Father himself—the ancestor whose children became the roots of the Palad, Nemes, and Temperance branches. After death, he remained in a realm accessible through dreams so he could counsel his descendants and keep a path open for fallen knights until the family’s divisions could finally be healed.

At the end of the larger conflict, Arlenen reunites the divided inheritance and entrusts its future to Rich, making his long role in the mists a bridge between the family’s origin and its next beginning.
