Lillis
The Power Beneath the Mountain
Spoiler level: Through The Frozen Globe
Quick Reference
Who Is Lillis?
Lillis is one of the most powerful people trapped inside the Frozen Mountain. Her strength is so great that ordinary containment is nearly impossible: in moments of fury she can tear through stone, collapse passages, and force the mountain itself to answer her emotions.
That power makes her both valuable and feared. Her father imprisons her in a place difficult for almost anyone to reach, intending to hold her until he can regain enough strength to control the situation. Isolation leaves Lillis furious, hurt, and painfully aware that people see her power before they see her as a person.
Power Without Freedom
Lillis embodies one of The Frozen Globe’s central tensions: extraordinary ability can become another kind of prison when everyone around its wielder is afraid of what might happen. Her confinement turns a family conflict into a political and magical problem, especially once Silber’s ambitions threaten the mountain.
Her rescue becomes urgent because she may be the only person powerful enough to oppose her uncle directly. The story therefore asks whether a person feared for her strength can also be trusted with the freedom to choose how to use it.
