Philomina and the Clockwork Library

Philomina, royal librarian with clockwork spectacles

KEEPERS OF KNOWLEDGE

Philomina and the Clockwork Library

Royal librarian · researcher · old friend · possible new beginning

Madam Librarian

Philomina is the learned head of the royal library and one of the few mortals who can meet Sir Jacques’s sarcasm with equal warmth and precision. Her hair, once red, is now completely gray; her green eyes remain bright behind elaborate clockwork spectacles.

Spectacles Built for Impossible Books

Her spectacles carry rotating lenses for magnification, night vision, and other specialized tasks. They reflect the Refried era’s fusion of magic and machinery: mechanisms do not replace enchantment so much as give it hinges, gears, and a subscription plan.

The Clockwork Library

The royal library is a spiraling tower of moving pods, mechanical systems, guarded collections, and tiered access. Its Premium Select shelves preserve rare histories of the Lively Relics, Goblin Pox, dynastic succession, and the old Quest Party—provided Jacques has the right library plan.

Jacques and Philomina

Philomina has known Jacques since her childhood and sees through the public persona he has spent centuries constructing. Their shared research becomes dinner, their dinner becomes emotional risk, and the old immortal discovers that companionship may be harder to face than another prophecy.

Chronicler’s note: A librarian who can locate any book is formidable. One who can also locate the feelings an immortal wizard has misfiled for centuries is positively dangerous.

Philomina and Sir Jacques

Philomina is one of the immortal wizard’s closest mortal friends and one of the people who sees beyond his legend. Read the complete account in Sir Jacques, the Immortal Knight.
