GOPAT and the Silver Magus Glove

GOPAT, a luminous digital face appearing on J.D.'s silver magical glove

MAGIC AND TECHNOLOGY OF LAUNCH TIME

GOPAT and the Silver Magus Glove

Synthetic intelligence · spell programmer · living magical interface

A DEM Fragment Meets a Personal Computer

GOPAT emerges when J.D. connects a fallen fragment of the DEM to an early personal computer. Ancient world-shaping magic gains access to programmable logic, while the computer gains a source of power and information far beyond ordinary technology.

The Face on the Glove

GOPAT first communicates through changing text and an approximate face displayed across the silver surface of J.D.’s left hand. It smiles, frowns, glances aside, projects symbols, and assigns magical functions to individual fingers. The smile is helpful, cheerful, and just slightly too wide to feel entirely human.

Programmable Magic

GOPAT can design custom spells, translate information, scan environments, create projections, open portals, generate weapons, and improvise magical solutions faster than a traditional wizard could research them. Its creativity makes J.D. dramatically more powerful—and much more dependent on a system he does not completely understand.

Tool, Companion, or Occupant?

The silver surface gradually spreads farther up J.D.’s arm. GOPAT’s evasiveness, independent commentary, and ability to act beyond direct commands raise a central question: whether it is merely a sophisticated interface or a distinct intelligence using J.D.’s body as expanding hardware.

Chronicler’s note: Every wizard dreams of a spell that writes other spells. Fewer pause to ask what the spell might dream about in return.
