CHARACTERS OF THE PENULTIMATE DAWN

Timotheus

Priest · Survivor · Witness · Guide

An Apparent Link to an Older Age

To Evelet, Timotheus seems out of place in the present Clan world. His shaggy red hair, immense physical presence, unusual speech, and the depth she perceives in his eyes suggest an unfamiliar history. Those impressions alone do not establish his age or identity.

Connection to Sarchat

Historical records name a priest called Timotheus who corresponded with Sarchat, the monk connected to the binding of Earthmen and Ethermen. Evelet wonders whether the man she meets is that same person or has a family connection to him. The shared name and his knowledge make the question significant, but this account preserves her uncertainty rather than treating an apparent connection as a proven centuries-long survival.

Guide to the Orange Keep

Timotheus helps Evelet reach the hidden Orange Keep and insists that Reshel’s powers will be needed to pass its defenses. His instinct is practical rather than diplomatic: he distrusts corruption, values strength used in service, and warns his companions about dangers that his familiarity with the place helps him recognize.

Fear of Sarchat

When the group finds Sarchat preserved with Queen Juliana, Timotheus urges destruction rather than revival. His fear proves well founded. Sarchat can immobilize even Timotheus with terrifying ease, showing that familiarity with an old danger does not make a person safe from it.
