Miles
St. George’s Loyal Squire
- Role: St. George’s squire
- Era: medieval Chess Quest history
- Duties: carries spare weapon spheres, watches George’s back, and assists during quests
- Traits: loyal, eager, observant, candid, and still learning
The Boy Beside the Legend
Miles gives the St. George story a ground-level point of view. While George carries the white pawn and prepares for his final quest, Miles handles the practical work of a squire: staying close, carrying replacement spheres, listening carefully, and trying to help without becoming another person George has to protect.
Unexpectedly Good Advice
Despite his youth, Miles can see parts of the George–Percy conflict that George struggles to name. His observation that darkness may gain more by turning a good person than recruiting someone already cruel helps George think differently about what happened to his old friend.
A Squire Who Affects the Quest
Miles is not merely an observer. His trust, errors, and willingness to keep helping contribute directly to the events surrounding George’s final pawn quest. The story uses him to show that even a legendary knight’s success depends on companions whose choices matter.
Deep Canon · A Witness to the Beginning
By accompanying George to the ceremony after the dragon encounter, Miles becomes a firsthand witness to an earlier stage of the same Paladin system Rich inherits centuries later. His presence helps connect the legendary past to the modern series without turning that history into an impersonal chronicle.
