Queen Minna

The woman whose disappearance helped awaken a world.

Minna begins on Earth as the woman Karsten loves and ends inside the music box as a young queen presiding over a kingdom that has suddenly become alive.

Before the Crown

Minna comes from the Strohmann family and is closely tied to Karsten Müller. Jorgen, jealous of his brother’s happiness and increasingly shaped by Edelphus’s influence, first uses magic against her through a crafted box. Years later, after Minna and Karsten have married, her lingering melancholy leads Horst Strohmann to commission a remarkable music box from the Müller brothers.

The Living Kingdom

Jorgen pours his memory of Klara’s joy into the music and secretly plays the finished box outside Minna’s window. Minna vanishes from Earth. At that same moment the box gains the spark of life, and Jorgen realizes that he is holding an entire world in his hands.

Inside that world, Minna is already Queen Minna when Jorgen enters as Sir Jorgen of Germania with his magical recreation of Klara. Her reign therefore sits directly at the hinge between the Earth story and the kingdom’s internal history.

Canon Note: Minna and “the First Queen”

The Canticle Prelude places Minna before Queen Gretchen in the Hall of Portraits and depicts Minna reigning before Gretchen. The later historical record read in The Canticle Kingdom, however, calls Gretchen “the first queen.” The encyclopedia preserves both accounts rather than silently choosing one over the other. Gretchen is therefore identified as the first queen in the kingdom’s surviving official history, while Minna is treated as an earlier queen preserved by the prequel’s chronology.
