These definitions explain how the books use a term. A familiar-looking word is not assigned a real-world etymology unless the story or ordinary language clearly supports it.

Series Meaning
Ayr
The mountain culture associated with gravity-defying gifts and its priestly order; priestly speech also invokes the Great Spirit Ayr.
Kayn
A people associated with the Frozen Mountain. Bruno claims to be a Kayn while concealing his true origin.
Dolorii
The people of the great forest tree-city whose highest priesthood is the Council of Tones.
Sansomnian
A person or tradition from the Sansomnian Lands, where pilgrims receive hospitality and ancient language-translating masks.
Musicanter
The series’ word for a musical enchanter: a magic user whose spellcraft is performed through music.
Sacred Pilgrim
A recognized traveler between worlds with traditional rights, duties, dress, and expectations of hospitality.
Secret Bearer
One of Telegro’s intelligent Ravens entrusted with a single one of the Seven Secrets.

Term
Series Meaning
Burgenring
The larger kingdom/world from which the Frozen Mountain was removed and in which much of Book Three unfolds.
Middlespace
The white road system between worlds, containing portals and rules governing passage.
Centerspace
A deeper region at the heart of the series’ cosmology, reached by Richard at the end of Book Two.
Darkespace
A prison realm containing exceptionally evil beings and later used by the Many-Named One as a source of power.
Canticle Kingdom
The living kingdom originally housed inside the Müller music box and later permanently transferred into a larger world.

Term
Series Meaning
Fuchsbar
A creature described in the novel as a cross between a fox and a bear. Its pelt becomes Peter’s enchanted protective cloak.
Homuchorus
A small magical wooden figure that answers one question truthfully and then breaks apart.
Drevinwyrm
The many-headed monstrous form imposed on Drevin. Drevin and the Drevinwyrm are the same person in different forms.
Exalted One
The title by which pilgrims know Telegro before meeting him personally.
Doom Tone
The Dolorii term for the terrifying low note associated with Father Roleni and judgment.
Seven Secrets
Seven great powers deliberately divided so that no single person can easily dominate the land.

Brigitte
Later manuscript material often prints Brigitta. The encyclopedia keeps one character page rather than treating the spellings as different people.
Drevin
Drevinwyrm is his transformed monstrous state, not a second character.
Telegro
The Exalted One is his title in Book Three.
The Many-Named One
Edelphus is his original known name; Legionus is a later composite form/name; he can also assume identities such as Thantos.
A Note on German-Looking Names
Some invented terms resemble German or other European word-building patterns. The archive does not automatically turn that resemblance into canon. For example, the books themselves define the Fuchsbar through its fox-and-bear appearance, but they do not provide a formal linguistic history for the creature’s name.
