A Tiny Oracle with a Severe Limit
The Homuchorus initially looks like an ordinary carved figure—small enough to be mistaken for a doll. Its purpose becomes clear only when Jorgen awakens it with a breath and the figure springs to life singing its own instructions.
One Question, One Answer
The user may ask the Homuchorus a single question. It promises a true answer, delivered in song, but the choice is irreversible. The artifact cannot be kept around for repeated consultations or used to solve every mystery the travelers encounter.
Knowledge Consumes the Artifact
Once the Homuchorus completes its answer, it bows and breaks apart into a pile of sticks. Its destruction turns information into a real cost: whoever activates one must decide which unanswered question is important enough to justify using up the entire object.
Why It Fits the Canticle World
The Homuchorus captures a recurring principle of Canticle magic: powerful help often comes with a built-in restraint. The artifact is extraordinarily useful precisely because its one-use rule prevents it from becoming effortless omniscience.
