Under the pen name David Michaels, he also creates picture books for families. Michael lives in Utah, works as an instructional designer, and has sung with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square since 2010.

Michael D. Young grew up traveling the world as the son of a military father, an experience that helped inspire his love of quests, languages, history, and imaginative worlds. He writes family-friendly fantasy novels, humorous adventures, devotionals, music history, and educational nonfiction. His fiction includes A Wonderful Week for a Quest, the Penultimate Dawn Cycle, The Last Archangel Series, The Chess Quest Series, and The Canticle Chronicles. His nonfiction explores hymns, carols, sacred music, faith, and creativity. He also publishes picture books under the pen name David Michaels. Michael holds degrees in German teaching, instructional design, and educational leadership, creates online curriculum, composes and records music, performs in community theater, and has sung with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square since 2010. He lives in Utah with his wife and their three children.
