The quest

Xandir has spent centuries serving as a destroying angel, sentenced to remain on Earth until the End of Time for his part in the Watchers’ transgressions. He longs for release and for Sempre, the woman he lost. When his cherub apprentice Jarom disappears, the search draws him into the plans of the surviving Giants and their leader, Master Mahan.

The Giants use Xandir’s love for Sempre to secure his cooperation. Their demands send him toward Serche and the Tree of Death. Jarom becomes much more than an inconvenient apprentice: his loyalty and willingness to sacrifice help Xandir survive trials that strength alone cannot overcome. They obtain the dangerous fruit, even though they know their supposed allies intend to misuse it.

Meanwhile, Eden Fortuna’s life unravels under demonic interference. Her husband Daren is possessed, and her pregnancy becomes the focus of a struggle between angels and demons. Her friend Judy is drawn into the danger as well. Xandir’s search and Eden’s ordeal are parts of the same approaching crisis.

How it ends

Sempre gives birth to Xandir’s daughter, Clara, and dies. Master Mahan reveals himself as Cain and intends to use Clara to perpetuate the Giants. Xandir refuses another bargain to recall Sempre’s soul, finally accepting that she belongs beyond his reach. Jarom helps him escape and stays behind to protect Clara in Nod.

After Xandir buries Sempre, the High Seraph announces that his sentence has ended. The End is an age, not a single moment. Xandir’s memories return, revealing that he is the Archangel Uriel, the last of the seven to enter mortality. He is sent into Eden’s family as a mortal child.

Eden gives birth to twins. One becomes the vessel of the demonic New Caesar; the other is Xandir. Judy uses the antidote intended for her own possession to help the children, dying in the struggle. The demons take the dark child, while angels protect Eden and Xandir. Daren remains dependent on the demon Sparkslinger to survive.

The epilogue brings guarded hope: Eden’s family finds refuge in the Himalayas, Xandir grows unusually quickly, and Judy returns as Eden’s guardian angel. Jarom secretly cares for Clara. The world outside is entering the dangerous age Xandir once wished would arrive.

The quest

Xandir’s new mortality has not brought an ordinary childhood. He grows rapidly while his twin, Ridnax, rises as a demonic ruler. His human parents, Eden and Daren, remain vulnerable, and the celestial conflict increasingly spills into the open.

An Epiphany briefly restores Xandir’s angelic form and power during a confrontation with the Four Horsemen. It gives him a glimpse of what he once was, but it is not a permanent escape from mortality. To stand against Ridnax, he must recover and assemble Daniel’s Armor, whose different pieces carry extraordinary abilities and limitations.

The search takes Xandir and his companions through dangerous realms, including encounters with the Olympians and a return to Serche. Jarom, Judy, and Clara remain essential allies. The quest asks Xandir to rely on their abilities, even as his instinct is still to carry the greatest risks himself.

Ridnax and Cain are also rivals. Their ambitions overlap, but neither intends to remain subordinate to the other. That division becomes crucial when Ridnax prepares an enormous hurricane, sustained by machinery aboard his airborne flagship, to devastate the American coastline.

How it ends

Xandir completes Daniel’s Armor and takes on Ridnax with the High Seraph’s guidance. The armor lets him absorb and redirect energy, enlarge himself, and fight on a scale far beyond an ordinary mortal. He defeats several Horsemen, but a root of the Tree of Death poisons him through the armor’s feet.

Dragged aboard the flagship, Xandir turns some of that poison against Ridnax. The battle is broadcast to the world, but his twin’s demonic strength overwhelms him. Before Ridnax can finish the victory, Cain arrives with his own ship and unleashes the accumulated vengeance granted by his mark. Ridnax’s flagship is destroyed, and Xandir barely escapes into the sea.

Recovering in a safe house, Xandir learns that Eden and Daren’s mountain refuge has been attacked. Jubal has abducted them on Cain’s behalf. The hurricane crisis has ended, but the person whose intervention stopped it now holds Xandir’s parents.

Xandir acknowledges that leaving his friends behind was a mistake. Jarom offers the next mission: take the fight to Cain together. In the epilogue, the Prince of Darkness prepares a visit to an old associate whose ambition has grown beyond his station.

The final quest

With Ridnax’s attack stopped, Xandir turns toward Cain and the rescue of Eden and Daren. The Prince of Darkness forcibly takes possession of Cain’s body, turning the surviving enemy into an even greater threat. Xandir’s family and allies face a battle for the future of the world.

A weapon offers hope: the Divine Chain, whose twelve links must be restored through the surrender of immortality. Xandir seeks power for the links from beings including the Olympians, learning that the strength of each contribution matters. Collecting the links is only part of understanding how the Chain works.

Lucifer’s All-Seeing Eye presents another danger. It fills Clara’s mind with humanity’s cruelty and suffering until she loses hope and accepts his promise to destroy and remake the world. The images are a selective truth, hiding the love and goodness that would contradict his argument.

How it ends

Eden gives up her immortality to complete the final link of the Chain, while Daren is struck down protecting her. The restored Chain breaks Lucifer’s hold over Xandir’s armor and lets him rejoin the battle.

Jarom confronts the Eye himself. With help from his father, he sees the hope excluded from its visions. He reaches Clara through their shared history and his refusal to abandon her. She finally touches the Eye with her purifying power and shatters it, weakening the enemy at a crucial moment.

Xandir tears through the Serpent, but sustains mortal wounds. The other Archangels join him, and Michael reveals the Chain’s remaining secret: it also draws strength from those wielding it. Together, the seven bind the Prince of Darkness, and Michael casts him into the pit. The assembled demonic forces are driven after him.

Xandir is forgiven and released from his mortal life. Siempre comes to take him home. He sees Eden, Daren, Judy, and other loved ones waiting, and leaves his body behind as the Archangels sing.

The epilogue follows Jarom, now High Seraph, and Clara, who wears Daniel’s Armor. The Soul of Fire purges the old earth, and the Soul of Ice cools it into a renewed world. Those who heeded the warnings survive in protected shelters. Jarom returns to the work of feeding people, with Clara choosing to remain beside him. Their ending is a beginning built around service rather than another war.

Before the main story

Nine historical sections follow Xandir from his early assignment as a Watcher toward the modern world. At first, watching humanity promises relief from celestial boredom. Under Azazel’s leadership, however, the Watchers cross the boundaries of their commission. Their interference and relationships with humans bring consequences that include the Giants and Xandir’s long punishment as a destroying angel.

The centuries that follow make his sentence more complicated than carrying out orders. Encounters with plagues in Egypt, Jonah and Nineveh, Pompeii, and later generations repeatedly bring him face to face with human suffering. Serche, the surviving Giants, and demonic schemes become recurring dangers rather than troubles confined to one age.

The book also establishes relationships and places that matter beyond any single mission: his love for Siempre, his ties to the Fortuna family, encounters with Yeahrti, and the difficult balance between obedience, judgment, and compassion. The later sections move through a medieval monastery, supernatural threats in Europe, the protection of a human family line, and a modern plague of serpents.

How it ends

In the final crisis, venom-carrying snakes spread demonic influence. Xandir traces them to a massive demon beneath an island and uses an antidote delivered through a snake’s fangs to destroy their source. The resulting instability triggers a volcanic eruption.

Xandir refuses to leave innocent people defenseless. He calls for angelic help and brings seawater against the lava while the gathered angels rescue those they can. His efforts save lives, but he cannot turn the catastrophe into a clean victory without losses.

The investigation leads onward to California, where Dusteater possesses the governor. Ordinary force fails against this powerful servant of the Prince of Darkness. At the decisive moment, Elsere helps Xandir use his remaining antidote dart, driving the demon from its host.

The High Seraph acknowledges the victory but does not restore Xandir’s missing memories or release him from his sentence. He grants him five years before their next meeting in New York. Xandir has become capable of choosing protection and asking for help, yet his bitterness remains. He is still waiting for the End of Time and still does not fully know himself.
