Arach and the Dragonborn
Adopted son · lost heir · golden dragon
Sir Roderick’s Adopted Son
Arach hatched from an egg after Sir Roderick promised his dying mother to raise him. Dragonborn mature rapidly, making the year-and-a-half-old Arach physically adult even while he continues to discover his people, history, and place in the world.
The Search Through Dormor
Arach travels into Dormor seeking his biological father and potential Dragonborn allies. His letters to “Rodfather” trace abandoned settlements, royal violence, an underground community, and the vulcancrest on his hand that identifies him as a descendant of a noble line. He eventually finds his father’s tomb and learns that his Dragonfather had been next in line to become High Elder.
The Dragonbond
Dragonborn can temporarily combine their strength with another through a dragonbond. Arach joins with Sir Roderick in a golden, flame-wreathed warrior form to face Felgarath. Later, he becomes an enormous golden dragon and holds back the flying undead pursuing The Cinder.
Chronicler’s note: Arach is not a bard or an ordinary competitor. His parallel quest expands the history of Dormor and supplies the power that keeps the heroes alive when music gives way to war.
