MAGIC OF THE PENULTIMATE DAWN
Potations
Liquid Nourishment · Etherman Need · Dawn and Dusk
A Different Kind of Nourishment
Potation is the liquid magical nourishment associated with the Etherman side of humanity. Where Earthmen depend upon Sustenance to answer the Hunger, Ethermen experience the deeper Thirst, a deprivation ordinary Sustenance cannot satisfy.
Dawn Potation
Dawn Potation nourishes and enlivens the Etherman soul. Ancient wells, subterranean streams, and the World Fissure suggest that this life-giving substance once moved through the Realm like blood through veins. When its flow returns, deadened land begins to grow green again.
Dusk Potation
Dusk Potation offers a corrupt answer to the same need. It grants temporary power and pleasure but cannot truly satisfy the Thirst. The Purple Aspect uses it in the creation of Revs, turning wounded Mals into stronger, more obedient servants while deepening the underlying corruption.
Need and Choice
The distinction between Dawn and Dusk becomes one of The Thirst‘s central ideas: having a real need does not make every answer to that need equally good. Potations turn magical chemistry into a moral choice between nourishment that restores relationship and power that exploits deprivation.
