CHARACTERS OF THE PENULTIMATE DAWN
Brehman
Marauder · Fighter · Former Emerald Vessel · Uneasy Ally
A Man of the Wildlands
Brehman leads a band of marauders and approaches nearly every alliance as a negotiation backed by an ax. He is suspicious, practical, and comfortable surviving beyond the protections of the great Keeps.
The First Emerald Vessel
Brehman serves as an earlier vessel of the Emerald Aspect, the combination of strength and swiftness. Kaval defeats him, and the Emerald Aspect later passes to Sven. The loss of vesselhood does not make Brehman irrelevant; like other former vessels, he retains unusual magical capacity and toughness.
At the World Fissure
Brehman and his marauders become unlikely partners in Azil and Bartan’s expedition to the Fissure. His fighters engage the Revs directly, and Brehman himself survives a fall only because Azil pulls him from the chasm.
A Useful Set of Eyes
Later, Brehman helps decipher the tiny writing in The Mind of Rahim using Scarlet Sustenance. His reading exposes the secret of the Ascension shrines and Soul Cleavers, making the rough marauder an essential link in one of the cycle’s most scholarly discoveries.
